Product Details

Female Only Fetal Bovine Serum is collected only from female fetuses during cattle harvesting.

Lipid Depleted Fetal Bovine Serum is obtained by using fumed silica precipitation method for removing lipids. The fumed silica powder is mixed into the serum and centrifuged. The lipids attach to the silica in the pellet and the supernatant contains only the serum. After treatment the level of cholesterol is < 10mg/100ml. Lipid Omega Scientific’s Depleted FBS is suitable for lipid-metabolism studies or Arteriosclerosis research. This product is also known as Delipidated FBS

Exosome Depleted Fetal Bovine Serum gives you faster and more accurate results for your research. This product has undergone a proprietary protocol to remove at least 95% of Exosomes that could interfere with your research. The depletion rate is measured by a nanoparticle tracking analysis apparatus (NTA using the NanoSight NS300 apparatus from Malvern).

TET- Approved Fetal Bovine Serum is screened for the presence of Tetracycline. This FBS has no detectable level of Tetracycline present. Tetracycline is an antibiotic commonly found in Fetal Bovine Serum which can cause problems for researchers using sensitive tet-inducing expression systems.

Charcoal Dextran-Treated Fetal Bovine Serum has lower levels of hormones and steroids. The concentration of these are reduced using charcoal, dextran and NaCl until progesterone concentration is less than 0.2 ng/mL. A hormone panel is performed pre and post-treatment and reported on the COA. Processed serum is thawed and then heated in a water bath at 56°C for 30 minutes. The serum is swirled every 10 minutes to ensure proper integration of concentrated protein.
The heat inactivates the complement in the serum. Complement is defined as a series of 20 proteins produced by the liver which amplify the action of antibodies.

Dialyzed Fetal Bovine Serum is passed through a 0.15M NaCl column to reduce the concentrations of low molecular weight components. The molecular weight cut off used in this process is 10,000.
