FGF-8 (FGF-8b) is a growth factor within the FGF family that binds to heparin. Proteins in this family are crucial for prenatal development, postnatal growth, and the regeneration of various tissues by stimulating cellular proliferation and differentiation. There are four known alternatively spliced forms of FGF-8: FGF-8A, FGF-8B, FGF-8E, and FGF-8F. Human and murine FGF-8A and FGF-8B are identical, while human and mouse FGF-8E and FGF-8F share 98% identity. FGF-8 targets mammary carcinoma cells and other cells expressing FGF receptors. Recombinant Human/Murine FGF-8 (FGF-8b) is a protein weighing 22.5 kDa and composed of 194 amino acid residues.
