SmartMCs X1 Microcarrier for Cell Culture

A gelatin-based surface with native attachment sites, built to dissolve on harvest. X1 combines the biology cells recognize with a clean, enzyme-based release step.

Gelatin-based dissolvable microcarriers with Soft, Medium, and Hard stiffness grades, harvested by enzymatic dissolution instead of filtration.

Product Details

X1 dissolvable microcarriers are made from a gelatin-based material designed to support attachment and expansion of adherent cells. Because the surface is biologically derived, it provides integrin-binding sites that many cell types recognize natively, without the need for a separate coating step.

X1 is removed through enzymatic digestion using TrypLE or Trypsin, typically 20 to 30 minutes depending on the stiffness variant, enabling cell harvest as a single-cell suspension without filtration or mechanical separation.

In evaluations using C2C12 myoblasts, X1 showed greater than 90% cell attachment within 24 hours, expansion of up to 30-fold over 7 days depending on seeding density, cell recovery approaching 100% following dissolution, and post-harvest viability exceeding 90%, with differentiation capacity maintained after expansion.
