Product Details

AlgMA is derived from sodium alginate and modified to enable light-based crosslinking, offering a more controlled and uniform alternative to traditional ionic (calcium) gelation. Smart MCs supplies AlgMA with a compatible LAP photoinitiator for fast, consistent hydrogel formation under UV or visible light.

AlgMA-50K (lower molecular weight) is easier to handle and provides higher stiffness at increased concentrations, suited to applications where structural strength matters. AlgMA-300K (higher molecular weight) is more viscous and forms softer, more flexible hydrogels, often used for cell encapsulation and softer tissue models.

Both variants are supplied as a white, sponge-like material and can be used alone or combined with other hydrogels such as GelMA or HAMA. For research use only, not intended for human clinical applications.
