SmartMCs SilkMA (Silk Fibroin Methacryloyl) Hydrogel

$240.00

Silk fibroin is known for mechanical strength and slow degradation. SilkMA gives you those properties with photo-crosslinking control.

Methacrylated silk fibroin for mechanically strong, slow-degrading photo-crosslinked hydrogels and scaffolds.

For research use only. Not intended for human clinical applications.

Product Details

SilkMA is a photocrosslinkable hydrogel derived from natural silk fibroin, combining the strength and stability of silk with light-based crosslinking control. Smart MCs supplies SilkMA with a compatible LAP photoinitiator for fast, reliable hydrogel formation under UV or visible light.

By modifying silk fibroin into SilkMA, it becomes water-soluble and easy to process while maintaining structural integrity after curing. Stiffness is tunable by concentration; in internal characterization, compressive modulus ranged from approximately 1.83 kPa at 10% concentration to 20.73 kPa at 20%.

SilkMA is compatible with other hydrogels such as GelMA and HAMA for composite systems. For research use only, not intended for human clinical applications.

KEY FEATURES

  • High mechanical strength relative to many soft hydrogels.
  • Slow, controlled degradation.
  • Tunable stiffness via concentration (approx. 1.83–20.73 kPa across 10–20% w/v in internal testing).
  • Compatible with bioprinting and molding, and with composite systems (GelMA, HAMA).
  • Non-enzymatically degradable.

APPLICATIONS

  • Bone and cartilage tissue engineering.
  • Cardiac patch development.
  • Long-timescale regenerative scaffolds.
  • Mechanically demanding 3D models.
